BACKGROUND
I consider myself to be a perfectionist and I like being able to have absolute control of my lines as well as my mediums. To me, manipulating paint is the most difficult thing - the brush bristles seem to have their own agenda and the colors never turn out how I intend them to. Although, becoming less strict on myself and becoming more loose with some of my art is something I hope to start doing. I have worked with watercolors quite a bit as well as some acrylic. I have been trying to learn how to use oil paints lately since I have yet to complete an oil painting, but learning how to use the paint and the different additives has been rocky. That's what I love about art though, it's always challenging me...

PHASES
Much like the moon, life goes through a series of phases and some are darker than others. When i'm feeling stuck in a dark spot in life, hooping is something I turn to help cope with everything and center myself again.

DES FLEURES
My final project for a drawing class in college. I had previously became a certified floral designer before this so i have a deep love for flowers. This painting is of a post card from the most inspirational flower shop in my hometown called Twisted Stem. They are far beyond traditional in the way they design flowers - they are more edgy yet elegant and they focus on creating artistic pieces out of their arrangements. They carry super unique flowers of all sorts, including exotic orchids, that you won't find anywhere else.

GO WITH THE FLOW
Go with the flow is the theme of this one. In hooping terms, the different fish symbolize the different tricks a hooper does while flowing. And that is why I love hooping most of all - it is a constant reminder to stay present and just go with the flow of whatever is happening at this exact moment. And when you can enjoy the moment and be present, things always flow smoother too.

FIRMLY GRASP IT
My first painted hat for festival adventures and a place to store pins along the way! Spongebob Squarepants will forever be my favorite cartoon (the classic episodes anyways) so it was only right to pay tribute to my favorite undersea critters that make me happy. i have the worst butter fingas when it comes to hooping which is where the firmly grasp it comes from.
Medium: Leather Paint

These 4ft x 2ft paintings were the largest commission I have done yet, A friend of mine wanted paintings of
Ann-Margret, Clint Eastwood, and William Shatner to hang in her restaurant, Vern's Tavern in Elgin, IL.

A moody, monochromatic blue mural inspired by Chicago that I painted in a commercial space.

Medium: Benjamin Moore Interior Paint

A mural I painted in a children's bedroom that started out as a sunny day in the mountains. A few years later when the theme of the bedroom changed to space, I darkened the sky and added stars as well as a moon and an alien abducting cow dala horses.
